A Manchester Theatre Gets a Special Bingo Licence
Posted on July 2, 2009 by Joanna Fisher
A functioning theatre may be a strange place to apply for a bingo licence, However, that is exactly what the Manchester Exchange Theatre has had to do, to allow for the staging of its new bingo play.
‘Everybody Loves a Winner’ is a play about bingo, written by Neil Bartlett. Neil became inspired to write the play after spending time at his local bingo hall in Brighton, just before it was about to close down. He then went on to tour other bingo halls and was impressed by the closeness of the bingo community.
The theatre in Manchester has been transformed to look like a real bingo hall and lucky theatre goers will even get a chance to actually play bingo courtesy of the special bingo licence which was awarded to the theatre.
The play will run for one month from the 1st of July 2009.
