Has Fame Proven Too Much For Susan Boyle?
Posted on June 2, 2009 by Joanna Fisher
Susan Boyle was gracious in defeat when she lost out to Diversity on Saturday night. However, her face throughout the evening showed the strain of her amazing rise to fame, from an ordinary Scottish spinster to an internationally recognized personality.
The sadness in Susan’s eyes, however, was unmistakable as she spoke to the judges despite the faint smile on her face. When asked if she had enjoyed the night the irony in her response, ‘Why shouldn’t I, I am among friends aren’t I?’ sounded more like a question to the critics, who have started to undermine the star already. Claims that she is cracking under the pressure and that she wasn’t even going to compete in the final of the show that catapulted her to stardom, can not have been easy for Susan to listen to.
Some critics may even go as far as to say that her antics following her defeat on Saturday, such as lifting her skirt and making silly faces accompanied by a silly dance; indicate clearly that the pressure has finally got to the once happy go lucky star. However, critics or admires both have to agree that she has an amazing voice and even if she has momentarily been affected by her whirlwind rise to fame, this is not the last we will hear about the Scottish star.
